Competition day

On the day of the event, MusterSheet becomes your live companion. Keep your phone handy — everything below is designed for it, and it works the same whether you open MusterSheet in your browser or added it to your Home Screen.

Open your Day-of Dashboard

Sign in on the date of a competition where your band is accepted, and MusterSheet opens its Day-of Dashboard. The date follows the venue's local time. If your bands are accepted at more than one event that day, the Competition Day page lists each event, venue, and your bands so you can choose the one you're attending. Co-directors get the same access.

A link to a specific page keeps its destination when you sign in. Accounts working an announcer or volunteer station keep their usual station landing. On other days, sign-in takes you to your Dashboard; you can also open Day-of Dashboard from today's competition card there.

The page shows, at a glance:

  • Your current status: Scheduled → Checked In → Warm-Up → Staging → On Field → Complete.
  • Two big tiles: Warm-Up (time and location) and You Perform (time, plus a live countdown like "2 bands away", "YOU'RE NEXT", and "ON FIELD NOW").
  • The Schedule, with a Now marker on the band currently performing. Before the show starts, the list centers on your slot with a You marker; once the day is running it follows the live cursor and shows the rest of the day (your slot keeps its You marker until the show moves past it). Your band alone gets the gold highlight (the matching accent color in light mode). Now has a separate blue treatment; when it is your turn, your row shows both You and Now.
  • Contacts (tap-to-call) and Arrival & Parking info.

The page updates by itself — no need to refresh. As the announcer moves the day along, the markers move with it.

Check in from your phone

When you arrive, you can check in without hunting down the check-in table:

  1. On the Day-of Dashboard, tap Complete Check-in.
  2. Confirm your Buses arrived and Band equipment vehicles arrived counts — they're pre-filled from what you registered with, so just correct them if today's numbers are different.
  3. Tick the two checkboxes:
    • Accessibility needs verified — any special requirements have been communicated to event staff.
    • Student leaders verified — drum majors, section leaders, and captains are present and briefed.
  4. Under Confirm Competition Captions, check or uncheck the captions your band is actually competing in today (Band, Percussion, Color Guard, and so on). Judges' sheets and the results math follow this list, and submitting the form is what confirms it — so if you never set your captions from the competition page, this is where it gets settled. At least one caption must stay checked.
  5. Tap Submit Check-In. You'll see "Self-check-in complete! Stop by the check-in table when you arrive so a volunteer can confirm your band."

Complete Check-in disappears after you submit or the volunteer station checks in your band, including when a volunteer finishes while your Day-of Dashboard is open. It also stays hidden once your band moves to staging or performs. Your recorded counts and arrival status remain available.

No signal in the parking lot?

If the submit can't reach the server, the form shows "Saved on this device" and posts itself automatically once you're back in coverage — keep the tab open. If your band ends up performing before the saved check-in syncs, the server declines the stale copy and tells you why, so it never overwrites the day's real numbers.

The check-in table still confirms your arrival

Self-check-in records your counts and checklist, but the host's check-in volunteers confirm your band's arrival at the table — that confirmation is what flips your status to Checked In and tells the announcer your band is really here. Until then your day-of card shows "Self-checked in — stop by the check-in table to complete arrival." Prefer the human touch? The volunteers can handle the whole check-in at the table instead. Your band must be confirmed checked in before the announcer can stage it, so don't skip the table.

While you wait

Watch the You Perform tile — it counts down the bands ahead of you. After you perform, your status flips to Complete. Your scores and judge feedback become available when the host publishes results.

Then comes the good part: Results & your judges packet.
