Create your account

You need a free account to use MusterSheet — whether you're a band director, a judge, a vendor, or a parent volunteer. Setting one up takes about two minutes.

Before you start

Sign-up is two short screens: first how you'll sign in, then who you are. Have handy:

  • Either a Google account you can sign in with, or an email address and a password of at least 8 characters. Whichever you use becomes your sign-in and cannot be changed later, so pick one you'll keep.
  • If you're a band director: your band name, school name, city, and state.
  • If you're a vendor: your business name.

Red asterisks and greyed-out buttons

Every required field is marked with a red asterisk. If you click into one and leave it empty, it turns red with a short note underneath telling you what's missing. The Continue and Create Account buttons stay greyed out until that screen is complete — that's the form waiting on you, not an error.

Check your password before you submit

Password boxes have a small eye icon on the right. Click it to show what you typed in plain text, and click it again to hide it — handy for catching a stray capital or a doubled character before you continue. The same icon appears on the sign-in and password-reset pages.

Step by step

Step 1 of 2 — How would you like to sign in?

  1. Go to mustersheet.com and click Get started free. (If you're on the sign-in page instead, click Don't have an account? Register at the bottom.)
  2. Pick how you want to sign in:
    • Continue with Google — the quickest way. Google confirms it's you and hands over your name and email, so there's no password to remember. Google sends you straight on to step 2.
    • Sign up with email — click this and three fields open up below it: Full Name, Email, and Password (at least 8 characters). Fill in all three, then click Continue.

No Google button?

Some MusterSheet installations don't offer Google sign-in. There the Full Name, Email, and Password fields are shown right away and there's no Sign up with email button to click first.

Step 2 of 2 — Tell us who you are

Whether you came in with Google or with an email and password, everyone finishes on this screen.

  1. Under Choose account type, pick the one that fits you. Nothing is chosen for you, so this is a required pick:
    • Band Director — register your band and enter competitions.
    • Judge — hosts will invite you to score competitions.
    • Vendor — apply for booth space and get listed in the vendor directory.
    • Parent / Volunteer — help at events, follow your student's booster account, or serve as a booster officer such as president or treasurer.
  2. If you chose Band Director, a Band & School section appears. Fill in Band Name, School Name, City, and State (the two-letter abbreviation, like TX or AL) — all four are required. If you chose Vendor, a Business section appears with Business Name. Judges and parent/volunteers have nothing extra to fill in.
  3. Check the two acknowledgment boxes just above the button: one agreeing to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, and one acknowledging that MusterSheet is beta software. Both are required, on the Google path as well as the email path — and the same boxes appear on invitation-acceptance pages.

Arriving on an invitation link instead?

If a host invited you to staff their competition — as co-host, registrar, tabulator, announcer, or volunteer coordinator — your invitation link handles account creation, so you never see the two-step signup above. Choose Continue with Google to verify the invited email without making a password, or create a password on the invitation page. Google must be signed in to the exact address the host invited. The page then asks a shorter version of the same account-type question: Parent / Volunteer (already selected, and right for most staff and booster officers) or Band Director, which adds the same Band & School fields described above. Judges and vendors invited by a host skip the question entirely — their invitation already sets their account type. If the invited email already has a MusterSheet account, sign in to that account first and then confirm the invitation.

  1. Click Create Account. The button stays greyed out until you've chosen an account type and filled in everything that choice asked for. (Signing up with email and need to fix your name, email, or password first? Click ← Back to return to step 1.)

That's it — you're signed in and looking at your home page. Directors, judges, and vendors land on the Dashboard; parents and volunteers land on their booster home feed.

Hosts and booster officers do not need a special account type

A band director uses their existing director account to host a competition or start the band's booster organization. Booster presidents, treasurers, and assistants choose Parent / Volunteer — with that account you can start the booster organization yourself (no director needed), or an existing officer can add your role by inviting the email address on the account.

Prefer to skip the password?

If you use Gmail, click Continue with Google on step 1 instead of typing an email and password. Google confirms it's you, and then you land on the Finish setting up your account page — which is the same Tell us who you are step 2 everyone finishes on. Choose your account type, check your Full Name (directors also fill in their band and school; vendors their business name), tick the two acknowledgment boxes, and click Create Account. Your email is shown as verified by Google, with no password to set or remember.

Common questions

"This email address is already registered." : Someone (probably you, a while back) already made an account with that email. Go to the sign-in page and click Forgot password? to get back in — see Signing in & passwords.

MusterSheet is asking me to "review our updated legal terms" — is that normal? : Yes. When the Terms of Service or Privacy Policy change, everyone with an existing account sees a one-time Accept Updated Terms page at their next sign-in. Review the linked documents, check both boxes, and click Accept and Continue — you'll land right back where you were headed. If you'd rather not accept, you can sign out from that page or email support@mustersheet.com to close your account.

I'm a director AND I judge sometimes. Do I need two accounts? : No. One account does everything. Hosts can invite the same account to judge, announce, or volunteer at their events.
