Drum Line Battle

Some competitions end the night with a crowd-pleaser: the drum lines face off head to head, and one walks away with the trophy. MusterSheet handles the sign-ups and the award; you (and the crowd) handle the noise.

Turn it on

1. On your Manage page's Settings tab, enable the Drum Line Battle toggle.
2. Optionally give it your own name — the default is "Drum Line Battle", but if your event has its own tradition ("Battle of the Beat"), type that instead. Your name is what directors and fans see everywhere.
3. Save Changes.

How bands enter

Directors opt in when they register — with the battle enabled, the registration form gains an opt-in for it. That's the whole entry process: no separate application, no extra fee handling, no accept/reject step. A director who changes their mind can simply not participate on the night.

See who's in

Your entrant list — every registered band that opted in — shows on the Manage page, so you can plan the bracket, the timing (most hosts run it right before or right after awards), and the staging. The battle doesn't appear as a scheduled row automatically; if you want it on the public schedule, insert a break row named after it.

Crown the winner

The battle isn't judged through score sheets — however you decide the winner (applause, a judges' huddle, single elimination), it's your call. To announce and record it:

1. On the Awards tab, add a custom award named after your battle with the Manual — host picks winner rule.
2. When the battle ends, set the winner like any other manual award — from Awards Prep or the Winners tab.
3. The announcer reads it at the ceremony with the rest of the awards, and it appears in the results like any other trophy.

Order of ceremonies

If the battle happens during the awards ceremony rather than before it, use an Announcer's Choice rule instead — the announcer assigns the winner live at the mic the moment the crowd decides. See Scores, awards & publishing.
