Finding your way around¶
A quick tour of the things you'll see on every page.
The bar across the top¶
- Menu button (phones and small tablets) — opens the main site navigation from the left. Dashboard, My Competitions, Calendar, Announcements, and other destination links live here instead of inside your initials menu.
- MusterSheet logo (top left) — click it any time to return to your Dashboard, your home base.
- Dashboard — your personalized overview. Directors, judges, and vendors see upcoming competitions, things that need attention, and quick links; parents and volunteers get their booster home — their students' balances, the booster feed, upcoming events, and any stations they're staffing.
- My Competitions — for directors: every competition your band has entered, past and upcoming.
- Calendar and Announcements — for parents connected to a booster group: straight to the season calendar and the feed.
- Theme button — choose System Default, Light, or Dark. System Default follows your phone or computer (including automatic day/night changes). MusterSheet remembers an explicit choice and keeps it consistent when you move between the app and this Help Center.
- Bell — your notifications. A small number badge means something new is waiting: a registration was accepted, a schedule was posted, and so on. Click the bell to read them, click a notification to jump to the page it's about, or click Clear all to mark everything read.
- Your initials (the circle at the far right) — your account menu. Everyone finds Profile, Password, and Logout here, plus a few profile entries that match your role — Band Profile for directors and Vendor Profile for vendors. On a phone, destinations such as Reimbursements and Booster Organization move to the separate menu button on the left; on a wider screen they remain in the initials menu.
Your settings¶
Click your initials, then Profile, to land on the Settings page. It's split into sections — User Profile, Password, and Notifications for everyone (including per-email toggles for competition emails — acceptance, payment, schedule, score, and reminder messages can each be switched off individually), Band Profile for directors, and Students for parents (emergency contacts for each student, plus a place to request another private parent link).
Under User Profile you can update:
- Full Name — your name as others see it.
- What should we call you? — an optional short name or nickname the app uses when greeting you.
- Phone — optional, so your booster organization can reach you if needed.
- NAfME Membership Number — directors only; optional, for National Association for Music Education members.
Click Save Changes when you're done. Note that your email address cannot be changed — it's permanently attached to your account. Booster officers also see a Booster Organizations section here with a Leave organization button for stepping down.
Green messages and red messages¶
After you save something, a small confirmation appears briefly at the top of the page (for example, "Band profile updated successfully"). If something needs fixing, a red box appears near the form and tells you exactly what's missing — fix that field and submit again. Nothing is saved until the confirmation appears.
Send Feedback¶
At the bottom of every page there's a Send Feedback link. Click it and a small panel opens with a box for whatever you want to say — a bug, a confusing screen, a feature you wish existed. It goes straight to the MusterSheet team, and it records which screen you were on, so you don't have to explain where you were. This is the button the beta acknowledgment at signup refers to.
Works great on a phone¶
Everything in MusterSheet works on a phone or tablet — competition day is designed for it. Tables become easy-to-read cards on small screens, and phone numbers (like the day-of contact at a competition) become tap-to-call links.
