Install on your phone (optional)¶
MusterSheet is a website, and it always works as one — there is nothing you have to install. But if you use it regularly, you can add it to your iPhone or Android Home Screen and open it like an app: its own icon, its own full-screen window, no browser bars. There's no app store involved and nothing to pay.
Use it without installing¶
Just go to mustersheet.com in any modern browser, sign in if you need to, and carry on. Every guide in this Help Center works exactly the same whether MusterSheet is installed or open in a browser tab. Fans scanning a QR code at the gate never need to install anything.
Install on iPhone or iPad¶
Installing has to be done from Safari (other browsers on iPhone can't add sites to the Home Screen):
- Open mustersheet.com in Safari.
- Tap the Share button — the square with an arrow pointing up, in the toolbar at the bottom of the screen (top-right on iPad).
- Scroll down the share sheet and tap Add to Home Screen.
- If your device offers an Open as Web App switch, leave it on.
- Tap Add in the top-right corner.
The MusterSheet icon appears on your Home Screen. Tap it and MusterSheet opens full-screen. The installed app keeps its own sign-in, separate from Safari — so the first time you open it, sign in once and it will remember you from then on.
Install on Android¶
- Open mustersheet.com in Chrome.
- If the page shows an Install MusterSheet button, tap it and confirm — that's the whole thing. Signed-in users will also find the button on an Add MusterSheet to your Home Screen card on the dashboard (dismissible) and permanently under Settings → Notifications → Install & Offline.
- No button? Tap Chrome's ⋮ menu in the top-right corner, choose Add to Home screen, then tap Install.
Either way you get a MusterSheet icon in your app drawer and on your Home Screen that opens in its own window.
Install on a computer¶
Optional, and mostly useful for a press-box laptop or a station tablet that runs a desktop browser: in Chrome or Edge, look for a small install icon at the right end of the address bar (or find Install MusterSheet / Apps → Install this site as an app in the browser menu). Phones are where installing helps most, though — if you're at a computer, a bookmark works just as well.
Before competition day¶
This part matters more than installing. The three competition-day screens built to survive a signal drop are the judge sheet, the announcer console, and the volunteer cash station — and each one rides out an outage while it is open. A screen you closed can't be reopened without signal, so the routine is:
- Sign in on the device you'll actually use — installed icon or browser tab, either is fine.
- Open the exact screen you'll be working from — your judge sheet, the announcer console, or the cash station — while you still have signal, and let it load fully.
- Keep that screen open through the event. Don't close the tab or swipe the app away; if you ever do close it, reopen it while you're still online.
With the screen open, a mid-event signal drop is handled for you, and the screen tells you what's happening in plain words:
- While the connection is up, submissions post normally — no special indicator, things just work.
- When the connection drops, the screen says so and keeps working — submitted work is marked with wording like "Saved locally — will retry when online" (judge sheet) or "Saved Locally" (cash kiosk). That means it's queued on the device, not yet on the server. Keep working; don't re-enter anything.
- When the signal returns, queued work uploads itself and the saved notices clear. Nothing is truly submitted until that happens, so keep the tab or app open until it does.
The rest of MusterSheet — dashboards, registration, booster pages, the fan schedule — is online-only. Installing doesn't change that; only those three screens are built to ride out an outage.
You can check a device's readiness any time under Settings → Notifications → Install & Offline, which shows four rows:
- Installed — whether this copy is running as an installed app or in an ordinary browser tab.
- Connection — whether the browser is online right now.
- Offline support — Ready for signal drops means the offline machinery is set up on this device.
- Queued changes — work saved on the device that hasn't reached the server yet. All queued changes synced means nothing is waiting; N changes need attention means something was refused and is being kept on the device — open the sync pill to retry or read the reason.
Updating¶
There's no app-store update. MusterSheet checks for a new version automatically each time you open it, so an installed copy quietly keeps itself current.
If an installed copy ever looks visibly stale — an old layout, a button a guide mentions that you can't find — close it completely (swipe it away in the app switcher), then open it again while online. That's usually all it takes. If it still looks wrong, open mustersheet.com in your regular browser to confirm the site itself is current, then remove and re-add the Home Screen icon (below — your account is not affected).
Removing it¶
Remove the icon the way you'd remove any app: press and hold it, then choose Remove App → Delete App (iPhone/iPad) or drag it to Uninstall (Android). This only removes the icon and its stored copy from that device — your account, your competitions, and everything on the server are untouched, and you can keep using MusterSheet in the browser or re-add the icon any time.
Troubleshooting¶
No Add to Home Screen or Install option appears.
: Make sure you're at https://mustersheet.com (the secure address —
installing requires it), in Safari on iPhone/iPad or Chrome on
Android. Other browsers may not offer installation at all — the
website still works normally in them, so nothing is lost.
You're in a private or incognito window. : Private browsing can't add Home Screen icons or store screens for offline use. Switch to a normal window and try again.
It's a school- or district-managed device. : Managed tablets and phones sometimes block installing web apps or clearing space for them. If the option is missing on a managed device, use MusterSheet in the browser — or ask whoever manages the device.
The device is nearly out of storage. : A device under heavy storage pressure may refuse to install or may evict the stored screens. Free up some space and open your working screen again while online.
None of that helps. : Everything works without installing, so you're never stuck — and if something seems genuinely broken, contact support.
